My Role

Marketing and Events Representative

As a Warner Music U Marketing & Events Representative, I played a key role in promoting Warner Music artists across the Boston market, working with various schools and artists to create “hype” for WMG releases. I got the opportunity to work with all types of music lovers, from exclusive communities at Harvard such as The Signet Society, to leading large-scale activations with Boston University’s Music Business Club and Songwriters Club.

My responsibilities spanned A&R scouting, where I identified emerging talent and provided insights on rising trends, to executing innovative marketing campaigns tailored to college audiences. I created UGC content to drive engagement, leveraging trending formats to amplify artist reach across social media. I was a top performer during my internship, demonstrating organic social media growth by 8k on TikTok with no help from ad spend. I did this by learning about trends, utilizing TikTok creator search insights, and by testing various videos to optimize performance.

I also got to play a unique role in the research behind Gen-Z vinyl consumption trends, partnering with The Vinyl Alliance and being a guest on their podcast. Through a mix of digital and in-person initiatives, I built relationships with student influencers, organized listening events, and developed strategic partnerships to enhance artist visibility. This role allowed me to blend creativity with data-driven strategy, ensuring Warner artists resonated authentically with the Gen Z audience.

Promotion Events

Instagram

For the duration of the program, my instagram went public and I spread #WMU to my peers in Gen-Z. Utilizing stories, hashtags, and music tagging, I made content at least once a month for Instagram Feed placements.

Instagram was a huge factor in spreading awareness to clubs, other schools, and music fans in the area. I made several graphics that I used to showcase the events that I made using Adobe Photoshop, that I then posted on my story.

All social content was then recorded in Google Sheets, showcasing any noticeable analytics.

Social Media

TikTok

Throughout my time with WMG, I created over 50 TikTok videos on my page promoting WMG's emerging artists and their songs. This gave me a unique opportunity to A/B test captions, hashtags, video lengths, text, and more to learn how to promote music on this app organically without boosts or paid promotion.

As a marketing representative, I was thrilled to see the high virality of my videos. After WMU, my account reached 8.5k followers and over 1.3M total likes.

I took away valuable skills from this experience such as making UGC content, but also about breaking down analytics and using numbers to back up my creativity. This simple concept is what shaped my success and guided me towards results and new ideas.
